   Tile

Ceramic and Porcelain

When choosing tile flooring, the two primary choices in man-made tile are ceramic and porcelain and these can also be used for walls and backsplashes. For floors, as long as your sub-floor (and installer) are solid, your choice should largely be governed by tones, patterns and taste.

The key, though, is hardness, and we prefer vitrified porcelain tile for floors. (The hardest tiles are the least water absorbent). Ceramic tile is better suited to backsplashes and baths.

Avoid glossy or glazed finishes for floors. Tiles for kitchen and bathrooms should be matte or rough finish for adequate traction under foot.

There is also a wide selection of natural stone flooring available.
