   Natural Stone
(For flooring / walls / countertops)

Stone materials are naturally beautiful and durable and require minimal maintenance. They are not just extremely popular, but de rigueur in high-end kitchens, baths and spa areas. Unglazed stone gives the best traction underfoot.

Our designers are ready to help you select the right material. (Call for an appointment.)

Granite

Granite is one of the hardest stones, and is available in an awe-inspiring array of tonal colors and patterns, some with dramatic striping, swirls, color combinations, and flecks of quartz, feldspar and mica. It is a popular choice for floors, countertops, baths and spas. Polished granite is not recommended, however for wet areas because it poses a slip hazard.

Travertine

Travertine is a beige stone with a slightly irregular surface that is very popular, particularly for bathrooms because of its natural appeal. Color variation between tiles creates contrast and adds dimension and interest. Its rough-hewn surface also offers some skid resistance for bathrooms. Accent tiles can match or complement bath towels and draperies.

Marble

Marble offers a simple elegance that is hard to match. It is available in a variety of tonal variations and is an excellent choice for showers, walls and low-traffic bathroom floors. Contrasting accents add to the charm and sophistication. Marble can be slippery, so look for skid resistant tiles for areas that may get wet.

Terracotta

Terracotta offers another alternative that can be used to create a Latin or Mexican feel. We do not generally recommend it because it is porous and requires more care. Travertine tile is a better choice because it is naturally slip resistant.

Limestone

Limestone is better suited for wall tiles than floors. Some species offer a slight translucency that can create a warm or modern feel to a space.
